We are honored to feature these Artists /Teachers for “The Artist, the Teacher, the Protégé Art Exhibition” at Old City Jewish Art Center on Friday, May 7th.

They are:  renowned Public Sculptor Harold Kimmelman—and his protégé Sculptor and Painter Anita Riley, master of Mosaic Arts and Teacher Jonathan Mandell—and his protégé Mosaic Artist Sharon Ritz, renaissance Sculptor and Teacher Daniel Ostrov—and his student protégé Aviva Gomberg, preeminent Calligrapher Mordechai Rosenstein—and the Young People protégés, Professor of Studio Art and Aesthetics at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and foremost Landscape Artist Philip Zuchman—and his protégé Painter and Collage Artist Deborah Gross-Zuchman.

Just as a person is commanded to honor his parents and hold them in awe, so too is he obligated to honor his teacher and hold him in awe.
Indeed, the measure of honor and awe due one's teacher exceeds that due one's parents.  His parents bring him into the life of this world, while his teacher, who teaches him wisdom, brings him into the life of the world to come.              Mishna Torah  5:1
